Mourjjan isn’t just a fashion label; it’s a movement. Founded in 2014 by designer Roland Rahal, the Zurich-based haute couture label is renowned for its bold, feminine designs and purpose-driven initiatives that leverage fashion as a tool for social change. By weaving together luxurious aesthetics with a profound commitment to societal and environmental causes, Mourjjan illustrates the transformative power of fashion— creating pieces that not only captivate the eye but speak to the soul and promote meaningful awareness.
The Ethereal Collection Fuses Strength and Femininity
Mourjjan, meaning ‘coral,’ embodies strength, resilience, and beauty—qualities that resonate in each piece the brand creates. Indeed, Rahal’s designs are a delicate dance between strength and softness, creating garments that accentuate the female form while telling powerful stories. His latest Ethereal FW24/25 collection was recently showcased at Mode Suisse 2024, where Rahal was honored with the prestigious Miele x Mode Suisse Award for Positive Impact in 2023. This award celebrates the Swiss label’s commitment to using fashion as a tool for social change, specifically through textile creation that empowers victims of sexual abuse.
The Ethereal collection, draws inspiration from the space between the universe and earth, using rich blacks and luxurious fabrics—delicate lace, sumptuous silk, and tulle—to explore themes of strength, resilience, and reclaiming power. “Through darkness, there is strength,” Rahal notes, highlighting how the collection supports the ‘Tags Against Crime’ initiative, which raises awareness for sexual violence. The collection’s final piece, a striking white ensemble, symbolizes emerging from the shadows of fear and pain, capturing the essence of Mourjjan’s mission to empower women.

Fashion with a Cause
At the core of Mourjjan is a commitment to social causes. The brand’s ‘Tags Against Crime’ campaign uses fashion to raise awareness of sexual abuse crimes, challenging societal norms and advocating for change. “I’ve always seen fashion as more than just clothing; it’s a platform for storytelling and to inspire change,” says Rahal. The Mourjjan for Children initiative further exemplifies this mission, offering creative education to children who have experienced trauma. The silk scarves are designed by children in Lebanon and produced in Switzerland, with proceeds supporting both the children and the preservation of Swiss craftsmanship. “Fashion is a means to create meaning, and meaning inspires fashion,” Rahal adds, underscoring the brand’s dedication to making a difference.
