Quarantine dining? Here are 7 high-end Geneva restaurants delivering during the lockdown

Restaurants may be closed for the next few weeks, but there is no need for food-lovers to resign themselves to canned goods or bland takeaway meals. Many of Geneva’s high-end eateries have launched delivery services, allowing customers to bring gourmet dishes to the comfort of their own home. From Michelin-starred Chinese, to gastronomic French cuisine, we’ve rounded up 7 of the best Geneva restaurants to order from. 

IZUMI, Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues Geneva

Its official, Japanese-fusion restaurant IZUMI will temporarily offer a takeaway service, allowing customers to enjoy a range of signature dishes crafted by Chef Mitsura Tsukada. With experience at famed restaurants like Nobu, renowned Chef Tsukada knows a thing or two about cooking, offering clients next-level Japanese cuisine with flair and flavour. Imagine: sweet and spicy tuna tartare, with gochujang sauce on crispy rice, or a tender king crab salad with baby spinach and lush yuzu truffle dressing – both delicious and light. Every week from Thursday to Sunday the dishes are available for takeaway, through pre-ordering and  calling +41 (0) 22 908 76 25 between 11am-8pm.

 

Philippe Chevrier at home 

Michelin-starred chef Philippe Chevrier, one of Geneva’s most celebrated chefs, runs some of the best restaurants in the city. With more than five eateries to his name, Chevrier has consolidated his reputation by elevating old classics, transforming them into creative dishes full of flavour and vibrancy. One of his more relaxed restaurant’s Chez Philippe — a gourmet grill steakhouse offering delicious seafood and meats, has launched a delivery service — suitably coined “Philippe Chevrier at home” — featuring a cut-down menu of some of the restaurant’s tastiest dishes. Imagine: a delicate beetrave salad with fresh radish and herbs topped with a ginger dressing, or a lightly grilled chicken breast covered in sweet coconut curry sauce, available for takeaway or delivery via smood.ch.

 

Balila at home, Hotel Longemalle

Balila is the creation of Hussein Hadid, one of Lebanon’s best-known chefs, who bought to life a restaurant that transforms traditional Lebanese cuisine, into creative modern plates full of flavour. Even something as familiar as a shawarma gets elevated in Chef Hadid’s capable hands. The restaurant has put together an excellent menu, featuring a range of delicious light starters and indulgent mains, available for takeaway at the Hotel Longemalle. Impossibly light yet deeply flavourful dishes like the Moutabal Signature, an eggplant tartare with tahini, garnished with walnuts, roasted hazelnuts and pomegranate, or the succulent Shawarma B’lahmeh, with thinly sliced beef cooked in Lebanese spices,  garnished with cherry tomatoes, served with Taratour sauce, are just a few of the wonderful delights on offer. La Réserve Shop, La Réserve Genève Hotel and Spa 

La Reserve has long been considered one of the top places to dine out in Geneva, offering 3 ultra-luxurious restaurants serving cuisines from around the world. The hotel is launching a home-delivery service, where customers can choose from an immensely diverse menu of fine cuisine. Diners can expect Le Loti’s signature starters — quinoa salad with pomegranate, avocado and chimichurri sauce, spinach salad with dry miso and pecorino — as well as their meat feasts. Michelin-starred dishes from Tse Fung are also available, with delicious dishes such as the succulent Szechuan-style chicken or the sautéed basil beef with red bell peppers. Le Patio Rive-Gauche 

Starting on Thursday, April 30, Michelin-guide restaurant Le Patio Rive-Gauche — praised as one of Geneva’s best creative French restaurants — will be offering a delivery menu via smood.ch. Nicknamed Rive-Gauche since its takeover by Michelin-starred chef Philippe Chevrier, Le Patio revisits French classics, serving gastronomic dishes based around beef and lobster. The delivery menu includes a wide selection of dishes, from the land: slow-cooked pork loin with pink candied lautrec garlic, oyster mushrooms and mashed potatoes, to the sea: lobster tortellini with basil, spinach, Paris mushrooms and shell foam — the Sea Bream Ceviche with granada seeds and coconut milk won’t disappoint either. 

 

Le Cheval Blanc (Vandœuvres)

What’s not to love about Italian food; a cuisine rooted in wholesome fresh vegetables, sea-food, meats and of course, fresh pasta. Le Cheval-Blanc has been on the scene since 1972, reigning the real Italian spirit and delighting guests with authentic Italian cuisine. The restaurant is offering a delivery menu via their website: https://shop.m-3restaurants.ch/, and on smood.ch, allowing customers to choose from an extensive list of traditional favourites: crispy veal Milanese with delicate vegetables, or the creamy ravioli cooked with fresh market vegetables. All dishes are perfectly mastered by Chef Julien Foury, but you’ll never go wrong with any of the pizzas, and the saltimbocca is not to be missed.

 

Nice Tapas Bar

Culinary hotspot Nice Tapas Bar, offers a range of gastronomic tapas plates, crafted beautifully and full of flavour. The inventive concept was launched by famed Chef Anatoly Komm, who was one of the first cooks to obtain a Michelin star in Moscow. Komm’s tapas bar normally books up quickly, but amid the shutdown, an extensive selection of signature dishes are available for delivery via their website and smood.ch. Inventive dishes like the black ravioli stuffed with shrimp and King Crab, in a homemade bisque with truffle sauce, or the lamb shank cooked low temperature, with wasabi and special “Shup” and “Chimichurri house” sauce, are enough to satisfy all foodies in need of  gastronomy during the lockdown.
