Top 5 things to do this week (23 February-1 March)

From a champagne afternoon tea at Hotel Metropole, to an evening of creative cocktails at the newly opened FRED by Fiskebar, here’s our top 5 things to do this week in Geneva.

Creative cocktails at Nordic art-bar FRED by fiskebar

Eccentric and sophisticated, the newly opened FRED by fiskebar is a Nordic art-bar serving creative cocktails in a contemporary space. Fred is the name of a Scandinavian dandy, a mysterious man who once passed through Geneva, with his eccentricities inspiring the glamorous design of the bar. Combining interactive cocktails with a refined and indulgent tapas menu, FRED by Fiskebar takes guests on an artistic journey where each creation enchants both the palate and eye. As guests sit back and discover the extraordinary range of artworks on display, mixology experts offer guidance by crafting unique cocktails based on individual taste and preference.

Situated in the heart of Geneva, rooftop 42 is a  chic restaurant-bar offering gourmet cuisine, tasty cocktails and breathtaking views of Lac Leman. During the day the bar has a more relaxed atmosphere, offering clients Mediterranean fine food and spectacular views of the Jet d’Eau. By night, the rooftop turns into the ultimate party scene, where singers, artists and djs perform and energise crowds until 2am. International fine food and cocktails at Eat Me

In the heart of the buzzing Eaux-Vives district lies Eat Me, a culinary hotspot serving an inspiring mix of international cuisine on small plates. Drawing from “food souvenirs” that owner Serena Shamash collected during her travels around the world, the restaurant offers a dynamic menu that explores different cuisines, transforming local flavours into modern gastronomic plates. Some of our personal favourites are the “Harissa Chop House” (lamb chops and homemade harissa cooked like in the Middle East) and the “Electric Sashimiviche,” a tuna sashimi prepared ceviche-style, with vibrant Sichuan button flowers that create a whole explosion of flavours.

Champagne afternoon tea at Hotel Metropole

Hotel Metropole has been a lakeside landmark since 1854. Architecturally, it is typical of the neoclassical style, with elegant lines and dramatic columns that create a more modest and sophisticated sense of luxury. The hotel also has a perfect location, right in front of the English Garden and the Lac Leman, offering dramatic views from the lake, to the Jet d’Eau and beyond. As well as 127 luxurious rooms and suites, the hotel has four restaurants and bars, of which “Le Mirror” is a glamorous dining space offering a champagne afternoon tea on Sundays. The afternoon tea features an ice cold glass of Laurent Perrier champagne,  delicious finger sandwiches and pastries and cakes that fulfil all tastes.
